Grand Rapids Food Truck Association
GRFTA is dedicated to fostering community connection through the vibrant and diverse food truck culture in Grand Rapids. Our Mission is to support local food entrepreneurs while enriching the neighborhoods we serve.
We strive to create positive, shared experiences that bring people together, celebrate culinary diversity, and contribute to the local economy. We do this by promoting and advocating for all food trucks in Grand Rapids Michigan.

Our Story
Food Trucks started gaining popularity in Grand Rapids, MI around 2015. To help facilitate that growth, a coalition of small business food truck owners and operators banded together to form the Grand Rapids Food Truck Association (GRFTA). Officially gaining nonprofit status in 2016 as a 501(c)6.
Working closely with its collaborative partners GRFTA has been able to help safely shape food truck culture in Grand Rapids through the adoption of a new city food truck ordinance. Today GRFTA continues to serve the greater Grand Rapids area by providing Advocacy, Education and Support within the local food truck industry and community which we serve. We are excited that you are looking to join and help further that community.
All members of the Grand Rapids Food Truck Association are expected to operate their business with the highest quality of service, follow our code of conduct, operate their business within the rules and regulations set forth by the city of Grand Rapids. Through this belief we strive to create a space that makes our food truck members the most sought after food trucks to book for caterings, events and festivals. As a potential member you too will be expected to uphold these guidelines.

IMPORTANCE:
Like any industry, it is important to come together in a collective and professional manner. It is important to a have a voice, a seat at the table with local or state government so we can represent our position on matters that impact us the most. It is important to provide a central place to communicate with one another in a productive manner on issues that impact our business. It is important to educate ourselves to become better stewards for our industry.
Food truck owners and operators create jobs and contribute to our local economy. Many of our members have a focus on sourcing local. Our industry allows us to test market concepts before making the larger investment into a bricks and mortar restaurant. We have members that operate food trucks and restaurants both. We support our community from an economic standpoint and also from a charitable standpoint. Food trucks volunteer time and provide food for many worthy causes around central Ohio. We fundraise for your school or sports program and many other worthwhile causes. We have become an integral part of the community.
